YIN YOGA
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga incorporating principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with yoga postures that are held for longer periods of time than other forms of yoga. In each posture we place gentle stresses on our deep connective tissues (the fascia, tendons, and ligaments) with the aim of increasing circulation in our joints, improving our general flexibility, and harmonizing the flow of energy through the body. These poses are practiced on a yoga mat and poses are held anywhere from three to five minutes. Yin Yoga can also increase bone density by placing gentle stress on the bones to help stimulate the bone-building process. The meditative components of Yin Yoga can also help to reduce levels of the stress-hormone cortisol, which has been shown to negatively impact bone density.

In-Person Class at yoga mandali
Classical Yin
Begin your week with a classical yin practice designed to effectively target the deeper connective tissues in our bodies. Yin Yoga is a deep and meditative practice with longer, more passive holds that allow us to surrender to the pose, soften our bodies, and calm our nervous systems. In each posture we will place gentle stresses on our deep connective tissues (the fascia, tendons, and ligaments) with the aim of increasing circulation in our joints and improving our general flexibility. The morning hours are an ideal time for this practice because our muscles are cool, and they won’t “steal” the stretch away from deeper tissues. In addition, a morning practice will allow you to move into your day with calm energy, a clear mind, and an open heart. All students are welcome. Class meets every Monday at 8 am.

In-Person Trainings at Yoga Mandali
Yin Foundational Training
This training is for yoga teachers and dedicated students who would like to deepen their understanding of Yin Yoga. Participants will learn the history, philosophy, benefits, and key principles of Yin, as well as how it is different from, and complementary to, more active Yang and more passive Restorative practices. We will explore the essential Yin asanas while also discussing anatomy, mindfulness, class sequencing, and the use of props to support the safe expression of each pose. During this training, special emphasis will be placed on learning to effectively cue poses. Students will embody the benefits of Yin Yoga in both theory and practice. Upon completion, students will receive 15 Yoga Alliance CE hours in Yin Yoga.
The next training is scheduled for the weekend of February 7th and 8th, 2026.
